FEBRUARY 2019

Aspen has seen multiple storm cycles come through in the last couple weeks, leaving our signature CHAMPAGNE POWDER  (aka blower snow as you can blow it off your hand).  Both deep and groomed runs have been epic.  We are on track for one of our best snow years!   There is currently more snow to date than last season’s total snow accumulation,  and we’re only half way through the 2018-19 ski season.

ARCHITECTURE / DESIGN  : 2019 is the 100th  anniversary of the Bauhaus and Bauhaus100: Aspen will commemorate the influence of the Bauhaus on Aspen and reveal the many ways that it has impacted the City of Aspen, and continues to influence and inspire artists, designers, architects, landscape architects, musicians, and thinkers in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley.

EVENTS

Aspen hosted the first ever POWDER 8 championship last weekend (think ASPEN EXTREME… thx Brad Krevoy!)

There were 75 teams competing in teams of two for a $10,000 purse.   My partner and I entered but didn’t win, although it was lotsa FUN.  My partner was alpine racer and 5x Olympian Casey Puckett.  He must have slacked ????  So much for having a ringer…

AUDI POWER OF FOUR -MARCH 2, 2019

The grueling course covers 24 miles and more than 10,000 vertical feet. Teams start in Snowmass Village, traverse to West Buttermilk, then on to Aspen Highlands where they ski over to Aspen Mountain and end in gondola plaza. For more information on the event, click here

CLOUD 9 BISTRO:  Call me if you need Cloud 9 resies….it’s most always sold out,  but I “may” be able to get you a reservation.

***Note the always fabulous closing day celebration at Highlands this year is Sunday April 14, 2019.

Also, I can put you in touch with Casey Puckett if you’d like to be challenged at another level in skiing.   He also offers summer ski camps via  PUCKETT RACING.  Casey travels a lot (!) but has some availability to guide clients so if you’re interested let me know.

Finally, if anyone is looking for Aspen area real estate or wants information, I am here with boots on the ground for 30 years…eager to help!!

Very Best,
Susan
